October 18: Suning Sports has jointly announced with Volleyball World that the former has acquired the media rights to the upcoming second season of the Chinese Volleyball League.
The partnership will see PP Sports, a live-streaming group belonging to Suning Sports, become the official “new media” partner of the 2017/18 Chinese Volleyball League, allowing the platform to broadcast no less than 200 league games each season online, covering both the regular season and postseason games plus the Playoff Finals and the All-Star games.
Additionally, media reports have said that further to this partnership, Suning Sports and Volleyball World will strengthen their cooperation in developing digital products for the league. The two sides will also jointly conduct their marketing strategies in the league as well as promote the business development of the volleyball league.
At the opening ceremony hosted in September, highlights of the new edition of the Chinese Volleyball League were officially unveiled including its new Chinese name, logo and sponsors.
Since 2015, Suning Sports has become a leader in the media rights market in China by pocketing the exclusive media rights of some of the top sports leagues, such as La Liga, the Premier League, Bundesliga, the AFC Champions League and the Chinese Super League.
Reportedly, the acquisition of the Chinese Volleyball League by Suning Sports can be seen as a new step for the giants to explore new territories in sport apart from the football world.
