Chinese smartphone maker Oppo have announced August 8 as the release date for the launch of the new FC Barcelona Edition R11.
On Thursday, Oppo released a poster of the product launch on its official Weibo account, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter. The poster showed the logo of FC Barcelona and a smartphone in the colors of red and blue, the traditional colors of FC Barcelona wIth the product launch themed as Night of Red and Blue. The design of the FC Barcelona Edition R11 however, remains unknown.
The FC Barcelona Edition R11 is expected to have FC Barcelona-related features and a higher price than the standard R11 phone, which was released in June.
Oppo signed a three-year partnership with FC Barcelona in May 2015. The company then launched the FC Barcelona Edition R7 in 2015 and R9 in 2016, which showed off FC Barcelona themed user interface, with club logo on the back and signatures of Barcelona stars on the phone case.
According to the Q2 report by Strategy Analytics, Oppo maintained the fourth largest global smartphone market share with 8.2 percent behind Samsung, Apple and Huawei. The company experienced a remarkable year-on-year growth of 64 percent in the second quarter of 2017, bringing its global shipment to 29.5 million units.
