PSG search for business partners in China

Frédéric Longuépée, Deputy Director General of Paris Saint-Germain Football Club (PSG), held a press conference in Beijing on Mar 16, with the aim of finding new business partners in China.

As an outstanding European club, PSG has scored great success in both league performance and market development over the past 6 years. Through grassroots and youth training programs, the French champions hope to help China develop a new generation of football players in order to enhance their popularity in China. PSG plan to start a futsal programme in Shanghai at the end of this year.

“PSG has become one of the most exciting and ambitious clubs in the world in just a few years. We have managed to make PSG an inspiring brand,” said Frédéric Longuépée, “We believe Chinese enterprises will benefit a lot through this sponsorship programme and write the history of PSG together with us.”

China, with the largest population in the world, has become a fresh power in football in recent years. The “China Plan” of PSG, as well as the initiative of Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and Fédération Française de Football (FFF) to set up offices in Beijing, is designed to enhance the influence of French football in China. In addition, PSG is preparing to establish a number of training centres in China “in the near future,” thanks to the great thirst for football among Chinese people. “The partnership will win a reputation for PSG in an area where the football market remains underdeveloped,” said Frédéric Longuépée, Deputy Director General of PSG on Thursday.

One week after coming to Asia, Longuépée has met “many Chinese enterprises, including companies in the electronic sector, financial services and tourism.” The Parisien club has been in cooperation with Chinese enterprises since 2014, when it began a partnership with Huawei, one of the global leaders in telecommunications. In June, however, that partnership will come to the end.
