Beijing City is set to increase its input into sports activities and winter sports in 2017.
In the 2017 announced budgets of Beijing municipal departments, the budgets for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and for winter sports are part of some departments’ prioritized output. Among these, at least six departments have budgets for the Winter Olympic Games and related winter sports.
The six departments’ budgets for the Winter Olympics and winter sports cover the period of the preparation for the Beijing Winter Olympics to various aspects during the time that the games will be officially held. The 2017 budget of the Beijing Sports Bureau has doubled over the last year, reaching 700 million Yuan and increasing by more than 400 million Yuan.
The Beijing Sports Bureau has increased the project funds for winter sports projects, including building an outdoor ice stadium, promoting public winter sports etc. The budget also involves the reserve talent development of winter sports, including national sleigh team training, the competition organized by Beijing youth ice-snow projects, the cultivation of Beijing reserve male ice hockey players etc.
The Beijing Sports Bureau will spend 1.98 million Yuan to build another two outdoor ice-stadiums and will continue to input operating funds for the other 6 outdoor ice stadiums which were built in the last two years.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport predicts that a 4.90 million Yuan planning formulation fee will be invested in transportation facilities surrounding the Winter Olympic Stadiums.
