December 16: Sina Weibo has signed a strategic partnership with the Beijing Social Sports Administration Center, a branch of the Municipal Sports Bureau of Beijing.
The two sides have launched a series of ice sports carnivals, which was outlined by the Ice Sports Ceremony held Saturday at the Beijing Pinggu Yuyang Ski Resort. Chinese celebrities Loura Lou, Feier Li and Joseph Zeng were named as the promotion ambassadors for the Ceremony.
In addition to this, the partners also have plans to use the two brands, the Sports Classroom and the Happy Ice Sports Season to meet the increasing demand for ice sports. They aim to help Beijing reach its goal of 8 million participants in ice sports by 2022, thus contributing to China’s initiative of “300 Million People on the Ice”.
According to a report by the pair, there were 1,624 people registered for Sports Classroom activities, creating 18.9-billion topic views, 290,000 video posts and 3.8 billion video views.
