Kaixin (a used car trading company) recently held a strategic cooperation press conference, announcing that it had, at a price of 88 million yuan, acquired the naming rights and front-of-jersey advertising rights of Hongyun FC for the 2017 season. Kaixin is owned by the Chelaichewang Group.
Hongyun FC will adopt Liaoning Shenyang Kaixin Football Club as its new title this season.
It is reported to be the first time that a Chinese second-hand car sales enterprise has sponsored a domestic sports club.
Kaixin, a C2B second-hand car sales enterprise, was purchased by the Chelaichewang Group on Dec 30th, 2016. It plans to enter the Northeast China market by establishing a subsidiary company in Shenyang early in 2017. It is also reported that Kaixin has the intention to spread the C2B auction model to the whole of China.
Hongyun FC is a long-established Chinese football club. The Asian Club Championship, won by the club in 1990, was the first intercontinental championship won by a Chinese football club. Since joining the Chinese Super League, Hongyun FC’s best finish was 3rd in the 2011 season.
