The Nanjing Municipal Government has just published its Implementation Plan for Nanjing Mass Fitness, and plans to get over 100 public stadiums open to the community at a low rate or for free within 4 years.
According to the plan, the number of citizens that exercise often should be at the top nationwide by 2020. The average area of exercise space per person will be 3.15 square meters, and the “10-minute fitness circles” in the urban communities will be further improved. There will be 10 sports parks, 40 “green spaces” in the urban communities with related sports facilities, 140 “schoolyard football” featured schools and 640 football fields, as well as 400km fitness trails to be built. The coverage and availability of fitness equipment will stay as 100%. Over 100 public stadiums will be open to the community at a low rate or for free.
Also, the 4-level structure of urban public fitness equipment will be improved. These are the city public fitness centers, the district public fitness centers, the street public fitness centers (sports centers), and the public fitness projects & community fitness sites.
