The National Fitness Plan (2016-2020) has been issued by the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
In a recent media interview the Deputy Director of Guangxi Sports Bureau has stated that the province has problems of poverty in the majority of cities and counties and that sports fitness investment has been limited.
To help rectify this situation, Guangxi will variously raise money for the construction of public sports facilities in its 54 poorest counties and support the region’s 5,000 poorest villages. The goal is that within 5 years each county will have a national fitness center and a floodlit court and that each village will have a fitness facility.
Over the next five years Guangxi will also accelerate the construction and cultivation of aquatic and marine sports due to the province’s abundant resources in rivers and lakes.
Meanwhile, there will be a focus on outdoor sports programs, the province will continue to strengthen and protect the ethnic minorities traditional sports heritage, and further expand exchanges with ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) in sports.
