IRONMAN, a Wanda Sports Holding company, announced that it will add 3 new IRONMAN 70.3 triathlons in China in 2017. These will take place in Liuzhou, Qujing, and Chongqing.
The new events include IRONMAN 70.3 Liuzhou (April 1, 2017), IRONMAN 70.3 Qujing (May 28, 2017), and IRONMAN 70.3 Chongqing (September 24, 2017). With inaugural events in Hefei and Xiamen this year, China will now have 5 IRONMAN 70.3 events taking place throughout the country during the 2017 season.
"The development of races in China continues to be a priority for us and Liuzhou, Qujing, and Chongqing will provide three fantastic new race locations for our athletes," said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for IRONMAN.
"There is a budding group of athletes throughout China looking for more opportunities to compete in our events. Combined with great tourist destinations, these events should provide experiences athletes around the world will enjoy," added Messick.
