Organizers of Wuhan Open, a WTA event held in the city of Wuhan, Tuesday announced the retired Chinese tennis superstar Li Na has become the global ambassador for the event.
The two-time Grand Slam champion will take part in several promotional campaigns for Wuhan Open under the agreements. As part of the deal, Li Na alongside delegates from Wuhan Open and Wuhan Tourism Bureau will visit Paris during the French Open. In addition, Li will attend the Opening Ceremony of Wuhan Open, the event’s Children Day and Wuhan Open Final in September. She will also play a part in fan engagement and promotion among juniors during the event.
"I'm Li Na and I will be waiting for you at the Wuhan Open," the 34 years old said in a VCR.
"My hometown Wuhan is where I started my tennis career. Tennis gives me all that I want and to tennis I would give back all that I have. Enabling more ordinary people to play and enjoy tennis will extend my tennis career and fulfill the original intention of the Wuhan Open," she added.
Li Na, as the top Chinese tennis icon, was born and raised in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
