The 38-day Premier League-themed carnival in Tianjin is highlighted by former Liverpool FC legend John Barnes’s join in.
The English former footballer arrived in Tianjin on January 2 and will watch the first Liverpool’s away game against West Ham United FC in the new year along with some Chinese football fans on the night of the day. John Barnes will also attend a Meet & Greet event on January 3 in Tianjin.
Apart from John Barnes’s support, an elite squad of four Liverpool players also came for the 2016 China trip with the aim of promoting football exchange between the two countries and enhancing Liverpool’s foothold in China.
The 38-day carnival, starting from December 4, is hosted by China’s Super Sports, the current rights holder and promoter of the English Premier League in China.
In a joint effort with the Aegean Shopping Mall based in Tianjin, Super Sports is holding the five week-long themed activities around five EPL giants including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.
Super Sport is the exclusive Premier League broadcast rights holder for Mainland China and Macau up until 2018 and has been providing Chinese EPL supporters with full access to all 380 matches per season.
