Taiwanese cable-television sports broadcaster Videoland has secured broadcast rights to inaugural WBSC Premier12 event for the world’s leading men’s national baseball team after its announcement of a deal with the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) within Taiwan region.
The deal will see the cable TV channel take the rights to all 33 first-round and quarter-final games being played in Taiwan during the tournament. It will also serve as the host broadcaster and producer of those matches.
Coverage of the Premier12, which is also being held in Japan, will represent the biggest sports broadcast production effort in Taiwanese history.
"WBSC is thrilled to partner with Videoland on this landmark agreement and exciting undertaking,” said WBSC president Riccardo Fraccari. “With Taiwan’s top sports network serving as the host broadcaster, viewers worldwide will be guaranteed the most comprehensive, innovative and highest quality coverage that showcases the world’s top twelve nations battling on the WBSC Premier12 global baseball stage.”
