LeTV Sports has announced that it has signed a deal with All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to pick up the exclusive digital broadcast rights, distribution and redistribution rights of Wimbledon Championships in China. The deal covers next 3 years, from 2016 to 2018.
As the oldest and only lawn tennis tournament in four Grand Slam, the Championships draw millions of global fans’ attention every year. The deal marks that LeTV Sports for the first time wins the rights to a Grand Slam tournament. The deal is another milestone for LeTV to enhance its rights to blue-ribbon tennis tournaments after securing rights of ATP, WTA, Davis Cup, Confederations Cup and Shenzhen Open.
Apart from the digital rights, LeTV also secured the distribution rights to the Championships to local TV stations.
Moreover, LeTV Sports will develop comprehensive partnership with AELTC for the promotion of Wimbledon in China. One of the key programs covered by the deal is landing a new youth tennis tournament, Road to Wimbledon, in China. Winners of the tournament will be invited to play in AELTC events and get trained by the Club.
