On March 17, Youku Sports officially announced a new collaboration with English Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers, more commonly known as Wolves, making Youku Sports the exclusive new media partner of Wolves in China. Wolves were founded in 1877, and were one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888. The Chinese investment group Fosun International acquired 100% of the club in 2016, and soon ensured its return to the Premier League.
Besides the live broadcast rights of top football games such as the World Cup and the Asian Cup, Youku Sports is also seeking further cooperation with football clubs. This partnership has had Youku’s logo displayed on perimeter boards at Wolves home stadium and will bring exclusive Internet content rights and other benefits such as invitations to season-end dinners and usage of the VIP Suites, hence creating more unique content and more in-depth experiences for Chinese fans.
This summer, Wolves will take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China which is held every two years with four teams playing a semi-final and a final.
