On May 16, Renmin Sports signed a strategic partnership deal with the Chinese Weiqi Association (CWA), alongside the 31 China Go Masters Tournaments (中国围棋名人战).
As Zhu Kai, Sports Director of People.cn and President of Renmin Sports, said, “The China Go Masters Tournaments, now at its 31st annual meeting, is the only sports event hosted by Renmin Sports. It is a worthwhile opportunity for Chinese Top Go players to fight for better performance.”
According to Zhu, Renmin Sports will start with the new partnership, creating a multi-level sports IP system of Go events including the “World Go Masters Championship” (世界围棋名人争霸战).
At the same time, the partners are also planning to establish a comprehensive platform of culture, information, capital and big data, serving to further the reform of the Chinese Go industry as well as turning the sport into an important part of Chinese people’s lifestyle.
CWA President Lin Jianchao commented, “I’m really pleased to establish a strategic cooperation with Renmin Sports, which will enable us to focus on news reports, event operations, Go big data and publicity of the sport, including youth training and teaching staff fostering.”
