On April 17, the German Bundesliga outfit, Borussia Dortmund, signed a cooperation deal with DAKA, a Chinese trading card manufacturer, at the Soccerex China 2018 held in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.
This deal, expected to take effect from this season to the end of the 2018/19 season, will see DAKA work with the Black and Yellows to develop collectible trading cards in mainland China, aiming to engage with more Chinese fans with the unique culture of Borussia Dortmund. This deal marks the German soccer club’s first attempt of such kind in China.
DAKA, founded in 2016, was named the exclusive trading card publisher of the CBA for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons. In October 2017, the Chinese company renewed a three-year deal to become an official sponsor of China’s top professional basketball leagues.
In 2017, DAKA and FUTERA co-launched the Zou Shiming Premium Boxing Card Collection to celebrate the boxer’s contribution to the development of Chinese boxing. DAKA has also made close ties with the Chinese Super League club, Shanghai Greenland FC and eSports clubs like WE, OMG and EDG.
As the official trading card publisher of Borussia Dortmund in Greater China, DAKA is planning to launch two co-branded products, along with online and offline campaigns within the terms of the contract.
