23 May 2024 14:34
Alongside the 2018-2020 strategy plans for the marathon and cycling industries in China, the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and nine other national authorities released a plan for the fencing industry in China covering the same period.
Official data indicates that over 100,000 people took part in fencing in China up to 2017, with the total number of fencing clubs, training centers and teams in schools reaching 373.
Based on this current data, the ten authorities expect that 200,000 people in China could be attracted to participate in fencing by 2020.
Authorities hope that over 700 fencing clubs will be in operation in China by 2020 and will lead to the development of a group of outstanding fencing coaches and athletes.
In addition to this, the plan also encourages relevant companies to offer various fencing products and service, with a batch of influential fencing brands emerging by 2020.
Alongside fencing training and equipment sectors, expansion priorities of the fencing industry in China also include fencing facilities, fencing events, fencing culture promotion and enabling more practitioners to get into the industry.
