Future of Sport: A Global Sports Week x Viva Technology Collaboration, Will Open in June 14

Over the past year, Yutang Sports have delivered a TV report every week, highlighting the most popular sports programs and matches of each week. With the whole year coming to the end, the final results of the CCTV5 TV ratings have been confirmed.
In 2017, the average annual all-day ratings of CCTV5 was 0.2, while the average evening ratings were 0.41, putting the channel in 12th place in both all-day and evening rating rankings for China’s satellite TV channels.
Of all of the sports events broadcasted by CCTV5, football was the mostbroadcasted sports events, making up 23% of CCTV5’s total event broadcasting hours. Following football, basketball and winter sports events were ranked in second and third place respectively, with the latter seeing an increase from 2016 and broadcasted as much as Rio 2016.
Volleyball, table tennis and marathon events won more broadcasting hours last year than 2016. However, the broadcasting hours of snooker events decreased in 2017 by 28.34%.
The most-watched events on CCTV5 last year were also football events, followed by table tennis and volleyball events. It is believed that the World Table Tennis Championships boosted the ratings of table tennis events, with an increase of 26.47% on 2016.
In terms of sports-themed programs on CCTV5, football, sports news and basketball were the top 3 mostwatched programs in 2017. Special programs for the 13th National Games, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Draw and Usain Bolt’s retirement were also popular last year.
