Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore reported lately that Wang Jianlin intended to purchase 30% of AC Milan’s stakes but the deal is not very likely to be realized because of the price that Silvio Berlusconi wants is too high.
The report says that the owner of Wanda Group wanted to expand his football market share with a series of purchases he made recently – the purchase of 20% of Atletico Madrid and the purchase of Infront Sports & Media Group.
According to the expert analysis of the newspaper, AC Milan currently should be worth around 400 m Euros and 500 m Euros. So the price for purchasing 30% of it should be between 120 m Euros and 150 m Euros. But a while ago, Berlusconi refused an offer of 970 m Euros from Singapore. That’s why the newspaper thinks that he has a higher expectation. The article said that Berlusconi’s expectation is 1500 m Euros.
The reporter of the article said that Berlusconi wanted to sell part of the club’s shares, but that he wanted to keep control of the club – selling 30% stakes would be acceptable.
The biggest problem now is still the price. The difference between expert evaluation and Berlusconi’s expectation is too big.
It is reported that a Thailand businessman Taechaubol is also interested in AC Milan. He wants to buy 50% of the stakes and has the same problem.
