Qinghai Province, famous for its longtime tourist resources, has released its new plan for the fitness and recreational industry in the province. According to the plan, the province will integrate the sports industry with its tourism resources with the aim of developing the sports tourism industry.
In the future, Qinghai Province will create different types of tourism projects featuring sports activities, including recreational sports activities, outdoor activities and watching sports events. New sports-themed parks will also be built in the province.
By 2025, Qinghai Province will hope to establish 100 provincial sports industrial parks, 100 high-quality sports projects, 100 camping parks for vehicles and motorbikes, as well as setting up 100 sports recreational towns, in order to engage over 1 million people in winter sports and boost the revenue of the fitness and recreational industry to the benefit of almost RMB 10 billion.
In terms of the sports tourism sector, 20 sports tourism destinations, 40 sports tourism demonstration bases and 10 sports tourism routes will be created in Qinghai Province by 2025. The province will also foster 5 sports tourism companies hoping to make them famous and competitive in China. By 2015, it is expected that the consumption of sports tourism in Qinghai will surpass RMB 100 million.
Additionally, local traditional sports in Qinghai will also be taken into account as a feature of sports tourism projects.
