September 22: According to Beijing’s Deputy Mayer Zhang Jiandong and eight leaders of sports-related municipal bureaus and committees, to complement the sports-related needs of Beijing residents, Beijing is going to provide them with coupons for use in the sports industry which will be delivered to residents directly.
Meanwhile, to address the lack of sports grounds, over 700 sports grounds and a 22-square-kilometer sports park will be built in Beijing. In addition to the existing 509 sports grounds, Beijing will see over 1,200 sports grounds in the city soon.
Located in Fengtai District, Beijing, the new sports park will become another destination for people to exercise, similar to the Olympic Forest Park in Chaoyang District, Beijing.
Furthermore, Beijing will encourage primary schools and middle schools to open their sports grounds and facilities to the public. Idle factory buildings, warehouses and business complexes will also be transformed to sports facilities.
