Chinese telecommunications company Huawei has become the Silver Sponsor of the 2017 Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open, which will run from September 22nd to the 30th.
As the officially designated mobile phone brand, Huawei will provide players and spectators with its latest products at the venue.
The Wuhan tournament, opening the 2017 tennis season in China, will feature 43 players from 22 countries, including 8 of the world’s TOP10. Chinese tennis legend Li Na, who was born in Wuhan, has become the global ambassador for the tournament.
The Wuhan Open, which made its debut in 2014, has become the second largest women's tennis tournament in East Asia, after the China Open in Beijing.
Huawei has been interested in sports sponsorship in recent years. In 2015, Huawei was a sponsor of the 2015 Shanghai Tennis Masters. The Chinese smartphone brand will also provide networking equipment and relevant services to Pyeongchang 2018 to be held in South Korea.
