September 6: Chinese ice hockey club Kunlun Red Star has appointed Jia Duo Bao-owned Kunlun Mountains Mineral Water as its Platinum Sponsor for the 2017-2022 seasons.
According to their agreement, the water brand will become the sponsor of Beijing-based HC Kunlun Red Star, along with its subordinates, Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star Ice Hockey Club and Harbin Little Wolf Ice Hockey Club.
Kunlun Water will become the official water of those clubs on the courts of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL) and the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). Kunlun will also work as the official partner of the Chinese national men’s ice hockey team, national women’s team, national men’s youth team and national women’s youth team.
Kunlun Red Star is the first Chinese hockey club to play in the KHL. The club has also partnered with the Chinese Ice Hockey Association (CIHA) and the Heilongjiang Sports Bureau to create national hockey teams for China, aimed at competing in professional leagues including VHL, MHL, and CWHL.
