The Government of Haidian, Beijing, has been dedicated to promote winter sports among the primary and secondary schools in Haidian since the late 2015. Some new achievements have been made in this process.
According to the Education Commission of Haidian, the number of the primary and secondary schools used to pilot the winter sports education has reached 31. 13 schools have their own ice-hockey teams. There are a total of 18 independent ice-hockey teams in Haidian until now. Furthermore, 6 out of those 31 schools and 1 kindergarten have on-campus rinks.
Held on 2nd April, the 2017 Ice Hockey League of Pupils & Juniors in Haidian also made a breakthrough. Attended by 40 teams from 60 schools, the games lasted for 1 month and attracted thousands of audience. The League also introduced a new online streaming platform to broadcast the games this year,which attracted around 100,000 viewers totally.
