The first round of the CSL was played between Mar 3rd - 5th. The 8 games attracted an audience of over 200,000 in total, or an average attendance of 25,405. Considering the game without spectators between Guizhou Zhicheng and Liaoning Hongyun, each of the other 7 games attracted over 29,000 fans on average. These figures show us a prosperous CSL market.
With 47,998 spectators in attendance, the game between Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao and Beijing Sinobo Guoan was the best attended one of the first round. The opening game between Shandong Luneng and Tianjin Taida also attracted over 40,000 fans . Guangzhou Fuli, on the other hand, had the smallest crowd for their home game, with an crowd of less than 10,000.
According to statistics, games in the 2016 CSL attracted 24,200 spectators on average, the 5th largest figure in the world. Thanks to the superstars and high-profile coaches, the 2017 CSL campaign has witnessed a good start with over 25,000 spectators attending each game on average, and it is likely to continue the momentum of annual growth in average attendances.
