According to foreign media reports on November 23rd, the Chinese company Hisense successfully sponsored the Ethiopian Youth Team and the Youth Team’s Summer Soccer Tournament. The competition took place soon after Euro 2016 had ended.
The Ethiopian Youth Team Summer Soccer Tournament has often been in financial difficulties. On July 26th 2016, Hisense’s partner Glorious Company signed an agreement for two seasons with the Youth Sports Administration Bureau and Football Association of Addis Ababa. It will sponsor the Summer Tournament for youth teams (under 17 years old) and juvenile teams (under 15 years old).
The Summer Tournament officially begins on August 7th at the Abbe Gyula Stadium. The youth and juvenile teams have a combined total of 10 teams and a total of 440 players. These teams are from 10 different African capital cities. Hisense offers shirts, leggings and a ball pack for each player. Glorious Executive Director Nesri said that football is the most popular sport in Africa and young people are the future of Africa. Hisense’s sponsorship will greatly enhance its brand awareness.
