Future of Sport: A Global Sports Week x Viva Technology Collaboration, Will Open in June 14

The World basketball governing body, FIBA, has announced that it will open offices in three Chinese cities. The news came at the Establishment Ceremony of The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup at Wukesong Stadium in Beijing yesterday.
Mr Gao Zhidan, Deputy Minister of China’s General Administration of Sports (CGAS), Mr Zhang Jiandong, Deputy Mayor of Beijing, and Mr Patrick Baumann, FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member, were all present at the Establishment Ceremony. They were joined by senior officials from the eight host cities - Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan.
CGAS Minister Mr Liu Peng and Beijing Mayor Mr Wang Anshun were named Directors General of the LOC for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup with offices next to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Organising Committee.
FIBA, as the world governing body of basketball, has also announced the establishment of offices in Beijing, Guangzhou and Nanjing as part of the federation’s support for the preparatory work of the 2019 FIBA World Cup to be held in China.
