SPORTACCORD 2024 INSIGHTS: Sport’s Perfect Storm

Weisai Sports Co. Ltd recently announced that the company will soon start an auction of TV advertisements around the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Alibaba’s e-commerce platform Taobao.
Starting with the initial bidding price of RMB10,000 for a CSL Ad on GSTV, the auction, the first of its kind, will take place on Taobao next Friday.
The Ad rights will see the winning bidder’s brand be exposed 520 timeson GSTV during 80 live CSL matcheswith brand exclusivityasa broadcast partner.
According to a principal at Weisai Sports, TV Advertising around the CSL is expected to draw wide interest from brands with an estimated valuation of RMB 15 million.
The CSL, as China’s top tier football league, has seen its media value roar in the past few years as CMC’s Ti’ao Power spent RMB8b on the rights to the CSL. Wesai Sports is the partner of GSTV with the rights to operate the TV Ads for live sports events on the channel.
