A Chinese company has reportedly proposed a bid for La Liga giants FC Barcelona’s front-of-shirt sponsorship, according to Spanish newspaper The Sport.
The Sport says Barcelona are looking for potential new options, which include a Chinese company, as the club’s contract with Qatar Airways will end on June 30th this summer and the two sides haven’t managed to renew it. However, the name of the Chinese company has yet to be revealed.
Despite this, the Catalan club are still in negotiation with Qatar Airways - “Barcelona has sought other options both in the US market (some managers even attended the Superbowl) and Asia,” reports The Sport. And the Chinese company has made the latest proposal to be associated with Barcelona. But FC Barcelona would rather run next season without a front-of-shirt sponsor if no agreement is reached.
Chinese companies have been really active in La Liga over recent years, highlighted by Wanda Group’s investment in Atletico Madrid, Rastar’s takeover of Espanyol and Qbao’s sponsorship deals with Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad.
