Le Sports, the sports arm of the Chinese e-commerce giant LeEco, has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the FA Cup over the next three seasons, from 2016/2017 to 2018/2019.
This news comes just two weeks after the company announced it had been awarded the exclusive broadcasting rights for China’s top football league, the Chinese Super League (CSL).
As stated in a Chinese report, Le Sports is broadcasting the last seven matches of this season’s FA Cup to Le VIP members for free.
Yizhong Cheng, CEO of Le Sports Hong Kong, said he is very excited about the expansion of Le Sports content in Hong Kong. As a football fan himself, he is thrilled to be able to watch the final rounds of the FA Cup for free.
This is the first time that Hong Kong has had an internet company acquire the live broadcasting of sports events.
