Ali Sports, the sports unit of China’s leading e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, announced yesterday that it has struck a strategic partnership deal with Shankai Sports, a fast-growing sports company in Beijing.
Under this deal, Ali will acquire exclusive event ticketing resources from Shankai. In the near future, a global ticketing system will be set up, giving full play to Ali’s international e-commerce platform and cloud computing technologies. They aim to provide top-tier event ticketing and travel packages for sport fans.
As stated in news reports, the first stage of their partnership is expected to cover the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup and the European Football Championship.
Founded in early 2009, Shankai is a sports company that provides sports business solutions to both Chinese and international sports stakeholders. It has set up headquarters in Beijing and also has an office in Zurich, Switzerland.
