German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg has come to an agreement with Chinese Super
League team Beijing Guoan to sign one of their star players, Zhang Xizhe.
His teammate Chen Zhizhao from Guo'an and Zhang Linfan from Guangzhou Evergrande were others being considered by the German club.
Zhang Xizhe, 23, is expected to leave for Germany this weekend to sign the deal.
If Zhang signs, he will become the fourth Chinese player in the Bundesliga, following Yang Chen, Shao Jiayi and Hao Junmin.
Zhang has extended his contract with Beijing Guo'an until the end of 2016. Before his contract expires, Zhang will be lent to Wolfsburg for six months. If he stays with Wolfsburg following the loan, he will get 500,000 Euros per year.
The Beijing Guo'an midfielder has made a handful of appearances for China and was voted Young Player of 2012 by the Chinese Football Association.
Wolfsburg is second in the Bundesliga, four points behind Bayern Munich.
