The 2019 China Baseball League season will begin on August 15 with 4 teams taking part. According to the organizers of the league, multiple clubs filed paperwork to join the CBL and their applications were evaluated by the Chinese Baseball Association and the Zhongzhibang (Beijing) Sports Operations company which will oversee the operation of the league. Beijing Tigers, Tianjin Lions, Jiangsu Huge Horse and Guangdong Leopards will play in the new China Baseball League season.
The China Baseball League is the highest professional baseball league in China, and the clubs will send their best payers to compete for the title. The league will also invite players from other Chinese baseball clubs and from Taiwan, China to join the 4 aforementioned clubs in the 2019 season.
The China Baseball League was originally formed in 2002, consisting of 4 teams. The league gradually grew to 10 teams, but because of a lack of sponsors, and the inability to successfully monetize the league, it was forced to shut down in 2012, 2013 and 2017. The CBL logo has also been changed 4 times.
With the reform of the Chinese Baseball Association and the creation of the Zhongzhibang (Beijing) Sports Operations company by Beijing Shougang Sports, the China Baseball League is hoping for a very successful 2019 season.
