The Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG have announced a wholly owned Chinese subsidiary in Beijing on November 27 via its official Weibo account in China, with the company officially registering in China in August, 2018.
Eintracht Frankfurt is the 5th Bundesliga club to have opened an office or a subsidiary in China and makes the Bundesliga one of the most active professional football leagues regarding the number of clubs that have opened offices in China.
The subsidiary is called Eintracht Frankfurt Football (Beijing) Co,. Ltd. and its main purpose is to use German football expertise to provide services to the Chinese market. The company is fully invested by Eintracht Frankfurt and is able to employ both Chinese and non-Chinese employees.
According to the announcement on the club’s official Chinese Weibo account, the subsidiary will officially start to operate on December 1, 2018.
Markus Weidner, the Managing Director of the subsidiary, says that entering the Chinese market is the next step of the club’s internationalization strategy and the establishment of the subsidiary in China is helpful to realize Eintracht Frankfurt’s goals in China.
The head of the Chinese office is Li Xin who has worked in the sports, business and government sectors in Germany for a few years and is very familiar with the German culture, as described by the announcement.
Eintracht Frankfurt have ongoing collaborations with Beijing Sport University, Federation of University Sports of China and other organizations providing football coach support and exchange programs to the Chinese organizations.
