As part of a sponsorship with China’s national football team (or simply known as Team China), Ermenegildo Zegna Group launched a Rising Football Star Plan (杰出星锐计划) on Monday to promote the development of youth training in China.
Qi Jun, Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), Marcello Lippi, head coach of China’s national football team attended the launch ceremony, while Zegna CEO Gildo Zegna sent a video to show his congratulations and expectation toward this cooperation.
Three young players, Li Jiawei and Huang Zihao from Jiangsu Suning FC and Wen Jialong under the training program of the Hubei Football Association were selected by Lippi and Zegna to receive professional training in Rome, Italy.
In 2016, Zegna inked an agreement to provide the official men’s off-field formal and leisurewear attire for China’s national football team and Under 22/Under 23 team. The sponsorship deal runs from September 1, 2016, through January 31, 2020.
As Qi Jun said, “The plan marks Zegna’s long-term commitment to China’s football and youth training programs. I’m confident that based on our successful cooperation in the past, we’ll write a new chapter for China’s football.”
