The new Chinese golf star Li Haotong has received a new sponsorship deal by top sportswear brand Adidas.
At the sportswear giant announcement, Adidas have signed a long-term sponsorship agreement with Li, making the brand Li’s provider of apparel and footwear.
“We’re looking for players that are creators both on and off the course and it’s no question that Haotong fits that mold,” said Tim McNulty, director of Sports Marketing, adidas Golf. “Being the youngest player in the top 50, he’s blazed a trail very quickly to be seen and respected as a top-ranked player, and we’re looking forward to helping him along the way with the best in apparel and footwear the game has to offer.”
Li Haotong, born in 1995, is a Chinese professional golfer who turned professional in 2011 and played his early pro career on the OneAsia Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. He played in a few European Tour events before capturing his maiden European Tour victory by winning the Volvo China Open on May 1 2016.
In 2017, Li played mainly on the European Tour, but also had some breakthrough results at the US Open, British Open and PGA Championship. In January 2018, Li earned his second victory on the European Tour, at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
This year, Li made his debut at the Masters and made a strong start by shooting a 3-under-par 69 to put himself among the leaders through the first round of the Masters at Augusta, making history for Chinese golf.
