On March 19, the King Pro League (KPL) named Chinese microblogging website Sina Weibo as their official social media partner.

Under their partnership, the two sides have plans to seek opportunities to create short videos and commercial content to engage more young fans with the tournament through social media.

According to news reports, over 80% of the 392 million monthly active users on Weibo are under 30 years old, which is a match with the target users for mobile games and eSports. In this regard, their cooperation can help the KPL reach their potential fans with real-time content and premium experiences.

At the same time, the pair is also looking to start a deep cooperation regarding commercial licensing of events, and promotion of the professional operation of eSports properties.

During the 2017 Spring Season, the KPL official Weibo posted nearly 700 shorts videos, getting more than 100 million views and attracting hundreds of thousands of new followers.

In 2017, the KPL generated 3 billion related topic views and over 300 million short video views. All of the 16 KPL teams and 95% eSports players launched their official Weibo accounts, while more than 180 are officially certified players or commentators.
