The General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) has recently released an official statement recruiting qualified sports institutes to become its training pilot centers for the training of sports agents in 2018.
Since it started the training and capacity evaluation in 2017, the GASC has decided to expand its business in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong Province, with the goal of forming a well-established operating model and help foster professional sports agents for China.
The applicants should be credible organizations with clean legal and financial records; great achievements in sports agent training over the past 2 years; at least 5 national sports agent training specialists; responsible person(s) under 70 years old with Master’s degree or higher, and qualified education management and teaching staff. A consortium’s application will be rejected.
A proposed sports institute partner is required to conduct sports agent training independently, in accordance with training standards, schedules and organization criterion, under the guidance of the GASC.
According to the announcement, working staff, college graduates and retired athletes can apply for a sports agent training program.
Under their training program, a qualified sports agent needs to know of industry practices, rules, marketing, sponsorship and branding management as well as be equipped with a capacity of sports commercial analysis, project planning, marketing operation and industry management.
