The Chinese Football Association (CFA) published a statement regarding pre-registration for China League Two (C2L).
According to the list released by the CFA, 22 clubs who played last season in C2L had already submitted their pre-registration applications to the association. The list also included the 2 clubs relegated from China League One and 8 clubs who competed in the finals of 2017 CFA Amateur League.
Reportedly, the CFA will sort these 32 clubs using certain criteria and will endorse the top 28 clubs who qualify to play in the upcoming new season of the C2L. If any qualified clubs withdraws from the league, the vacancy will be filled by the next qualified club from the remaining 4 unselected clubs.
China League Two, inaugurated in 2004, is the third-tier professional football league in China following the Chinese Super League and China League One.
Last season, 24 clubs competed in the C2L with Heilongjiang Lava Spring Football Club and Meizhou Meixian Techand Football Club winning promotion to China League One.
