As reported by the Chongqing Daily, Chongqing will build 50 sports parks over the next three years, which will provide each district or county of the city with at least one sports park. According to the Municipal Sports Bureau of Chongqing, it is a way to meet the increasing enthusiasm in physical fitness by Chongqing residents.
Reportedly, these parks will be classified by size into four types – large, medium, small and mini parks. The Municipal Sports Bureau of Chongqing has required that the large, medium and small-sized sports parks should feature more than one sports court and a fitness area.
As a support method, the bureau will subsidize these three types of sports parks with funding of up to RMB 5 million, 3 million and 2 million.
Over 2017, the bureau received 11 applications for sports parks projects from 8 districts and counties. Among these 11 projects, the Dongyue Sports Park in Bishan District, Chongqing, was subsidized up to RMB 5 million by the bureau.
