The Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) has signed a deal on January 22 with Beijing Energy Investment Holding Co., Ltd.
The deal aims to build national winter sports training bases and mass winter sports leisure parks, as well as seek a new cooperation model for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
The two sides will work together to construct some snow sports training and competition fields, supporting the national teams to prepare for the Beijing 2022 Games. Specifically, the Muchengjian Coal Mine under the Group will be transformed into ski jumping clusters, indoor cross-country skiing training and competition fields, snow sports science labs, physical fitness centers and athletes’ apartments.
As Ni Huizhong, Director of Winter Sports Management Center, said, “effective efforts should be made to make up for facility weakness in Chinese national winter sports teams, especially in snow sports, in preparation for Beijing 2022.”
