With the finals of the World University Cyber Games (WUCG) having taken place in Jinan, Shandong Province on December 10, they have also recently announced a new partnership with the emerging Chinese eSports club, LP eSports Club.

Under this partnership, WUCG and LP more stronger connections will be formed between universities and the eSports industry including enabling college students who want to be professional eSports players to fulfill their dreams. Reportedly, the two sides will work together to operate eSports events and develop professional youth training programs alongside eSports education programs.

In fact, the WUCG have already formed partnerships with several Chinese domestic eSports clubs, such as BLG, LGD and FTD, prior to this new partnership with LP. Based on those partnerships, the WUCG have offered a stage to college students to show their skills in eSports and helped them to become professional eSports players. In 2018, the WUCG will continue to do this by partnering with more Chinese professional eSports clubs.

In 2017 the WUCG evolved from the Chinese eSports League University Cyber Gameswhich has been endorsed by the Federation of University Sports of China. In its first season, the WUCG featuredthree divisions: Asia Division, Europe Division and the North America Division with the grand final taking place in Jinan. DOTA2, League of Legends and King of Glory were the three online multiplayer video games on the 2017 WUCG program.
