November 17, Beijing: The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has launched an arbitration platform on its official website, which consists of two parts, Case Acceptance and Announcement of Court Sessions.
The first case to go through the system was the Beijing Guoan player Zhang Xizhe’s appeal which was accepted on November 13. He hopes that the CFA could reduce the punishment of suspension for 12 games, due to Zhang’s punching Lifan player Chen Lei in the face during the Chinese Super League.
The arbitration platform accepts appeals from players, clubs and other participants. As shown in a Netease report, the arbitration rules were launched on June 16, 2009, and finally carried out in 2017.
According to earlier reports, the CFA has decided to embrace the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and professional referee system to bring more justice to the Chinese football pitches. The Association also said it has plans to introduce new referee rules, including the establishment of a professional referee system, use of VAR technology, the establishment of Chinese football referee training academies and strengthening of referee exchanges.
