November 10: Alisports, the sports division of the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, has reached a 10-year strategic partnership with the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and the China School Sports Federation (CSSF).
The three parties will start their partnership with running, soccer, rugby and Gong Shou Dao with Alisports help the two organizations to develop on-campus sports events. The deal aims to introduce advanced sports concepts and a healthy lifestyle to promote the long-term development of campus sports.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Chinese film actor Jet Li, pioneer of Gong Shou Dao, an innovative sport similar to the rules of Tai Chi Push Hands.
As Li said, “We hope that the cooperation with Alisports and the FUSC will provide a new expression and development model for Chinese Kungfu.” The partners are expected to organize a Gong Shou Dao league in Chinese universities.
Meanwhile, a sports service platform will be established to help make sports participation more accessible for students in China.
