By Yutang Sports and LaLiga Tuesday, 31 Oct 2017 12:00

LaLiga and Yutang Sports have jointly announced today that they have reached a media partnership for the next two years, with Yutang Sports becoming the Official Sports Business Media Partner of LaLiga in China.

Under this partnership, Yutang Sports will deliver the latest events and business news updates from LaLiga’s Chinese and global operations with in-depth and professional interpretation and analysis.

Yutang Sports is the number one most influential sports media platform in China focusing vertically on sports marketing. From 2015 to the present day the accumulated views of Yutang Sports content covering 30 Chinese and international media channels has exceeded 450 million, with over 170,000 global business readers.

Commenting on the collaboration, the LaLiga Country Manager of Greater China, Sergi Torrents said: “Yutang Sports is a leading Chinese sports business media outlet, with great expertise in sports marketing. LaLiga considers commercial growth very important and recognizes what Yutang Sports have achieved. LaLiga is delighted to partner with Yutang Sports moving forward.”

Co-Founder and Executive Director of Yutang Sports, Li Jiang said: “LaLiga enjoys great public attention in China. LaLiga clubs led by Real Madrid C.F. and FC Barcelona also have great popularity and a large fan base in China. It is a great pleasure to have reached a partnership with LaLiga. In the future, Yutang Sports will work alongside LaLiga to bring more premier services to the Chinese sports industry.”

According to LaLiga President Javier Tebas in an interview, that in the 2015/2016 season, there were 2.1 billion people around the world that had watched LaLiga match broadcasts and the number exceeded 2.5 billion in the 2016/2017 season. He hopes that LaLiga would become the most competitive professional football league in the world both on the field and in the commercial sphere. Yutang Sports would continue to follow updates of LaLiga business developments.

LaLiga is one of the most followed European football leagues by Chinese football fans, with an estimated fan base of over 200m in China. Therefore, China is an important part of LaLiga’s global strategy and so LaLiga has established a local team to operate its business in the Greater China region, develop new partners and look after existing partnerships.

LaLiga has established an official collaboration with the Ministry of Education of China. In 2015 and 2016, they sent 38 and 44 LaLiga coaches respectively to Chinese schools. In 2015 alone, over 45,000 Chinese students received their training and around 6,000 sports teachers and grass root coaches also benefited from it. LaLiga therefore established a deeper link with Chinese football, helping Chinese football to continuously improve.

What is worth mentioning is that to provide a better experience for Chinese audiences, since last season LaLiga has adjusted the local kick-off time of El Clásico to the afternoon. This prime time TV slot gave Chinese fans a better experience and reflects how importantly LaLiga treats the Chinese market. In addition, LaLiga plans to organize China games to be closer to the Chinese fans.
