October 19: Following Suning Sports acquisition of the media rights to the upcoming second season of the Chinese Volleyball League (CVL) on October 18, the league has embraced one more “new media” partner – Sina Sports.
Similar to the partnership between Suning Sports and the CVL, Sina Sports will also have the right to broadcast the league’s games on the Sina Sports website and app covering no less than 200 games each season including both the regular and postseason games plus the Playoff Finals and the All-Star games.
In addition, it is reported that Sina Sports and Volleyball World, the operators of the CVL, will strengthen their cooperation in developing digital products for the league. The two sides will also jointly promote the business development of the CVL, as well as leveraging the league to conduct their marketing strategies and campaigns.
At the opening ceremony hosted in September, highlights of the new edition of the Chinese Volleyball League were officially unveiled including its new Chinese name, logo and sponsors.
Sina Sports is one of the leaders in sports media in China, having also bagged the media rights to premium leagues and events such as the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, the PGA and the Volvo Ocean Race.
