October 16, Shanghai: Having been a partner with Tennis Australia since 2013 in China mainland, the Chinese live-streaming platform iQiyi has jointly announced with the Australian governing body of tennis that their cooperation has been extended until 2021.
This renewal will allow iQiyi to broadcast the next four editions of the Australian Open and relevant programmes. These tennis programmes plus other summer tournaments featuring tennis players of Tennis Australia will also be featured on iQiyi, including the Mastercard Hopman Cup, The Brisbane International (ATP250), The Sydney International (ATP250), The World Tennis Challenge and The Australian Open Wildcard in Australia and Asian-Pacific Region.
Alongside their broadcasting services, the two sides will also extend their partnership in the e-commerce area, which will see the Australian Open’s official merchandise appear on iQiyi’s online mall.
iQiyi will also become the official partner of the Kids Tennis Day at the Australian Open, a campaign for kids and their families to experience the sport of tennis.
Over recent years, iQiyi has partnered with several international tennis governing bodies, such as the ATP and the WTA, capturing the rights of their tournaments and championships.
Under these tennis partnerships, iQiyi launched a premium membership project for tennis content during the China Open 2017. Users who joined this campaign can enjoy the rights included in their membership from January 1st, 2018.
