More than 189,000 people attended the event including "the King of Clay", Rafael Nadal. As of October 7th, this year’s tournament has earned 6.52 million yuan from catering and souvenirs sales, an increase of 38.7 percent, more than 4.7 million yuan in 2016, according to the Organizing Committee.
Additionally, there are altogether 42 sponsors supporting the 2017 tennis event, which include 1 presenting sponsor, 3 diamond sponsors, 7 platinum sponsors, 9 exclusive partners, 18 suppliers, 3 exclusive media partners and 1 ticket marketing partner.
According to a recent Yutang TV Viewership Report, the 2017 China Open had four matches in the TOP10 list on CCTV 5 from October 2 to 8, as the Men's Singles Finals was the most watched tennis match on the list.
Zhang Junhui, Event Director of the 2017 China Open, attributes the success to the fact that this year’s event coincided with China’s 8-day National Holiday.
