Chinese company ZTE has signed a three-year marketing deal to become the PGA Tour’s first official smartphone partner. This partnership includes global rights through 2020 as ZTE becomes the official smartphone of the world’s leading golf tour.
The deal will enable ZTE to use the logo of the PGA Tour in its marketing campaigns and provide brand exposure opportunities on the tour’s digital and TV media.
The Chinese smartphone has already made a presence on the PGA Tour, as ZTE became a hospitality partner of the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open and the official smartphone of the RBC Canadian Open. In addition to this, the smartphone brand has also named PGA Tour player Danny Lee as a global ambassador for ZTE’s Axon brand.
“Mobile devices have become such a critical means by which fans watch and get updates on our competition, find information about their favorite players and share PGA Tour-related content,” said Brian Oliver, the PGA Tour’s senior vice president of sponsorship and partnership. “In ZTE, we are partnering with a global leader in the telecommunications industry.”
