By Zhang Qi Wednesday, 27 Sep 2017 18:42

The General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) on Friday signed an agreement with the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) to introduce foreign sports experts to help with the Beijing Winter Olympics.

To prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the two departments plan to introduce a batch of foreign high-level sports experts and teams to supplement the current shortage of sports professionals in China. Meanwhile, the Chinese Olympic Talents Introduction Centre was established at Beijing Sports University to take the responsibility for the invitation job.

The GASC and the SAFEA will also send high-level domestic managers, athletes and sports experts to receive training abroad and provide them with more resources and favorable policies, which aims to comprehensively increase the qualities and skills of Chinese sports professionals.

The SAFEA is responsible for certifying foreign experts to work in the Chinese mainland and organizing overseas training for Chinese technical and managerial professionals.

China will host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games from February 4 to 20 in Beijing and Zhang Jiakou. The Chinese government wishes to promote winter sports and cultivate high-level winter sports athletes by hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics.

In the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, China only ranked 12th in the medal table with three golds, four silvers and two bronzes.
